Position Summary

The Social Science/Humanities Teacher is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering quality lesson plans, curricula and lessons that adhere to national, international and Mfah-Mfah Academy guidelines in History, Geography and Citizenship Education. The Social Science/Humanities will work closely with the Dean and Head of School to ensure each student is provided with the necessary support to appreciate the subject matter. The Social Science/Humanities Teacher will provide additional support to students outside of the classroom to ensure all students are meeting competency requirements specified in the curricula. 

The Social Science/Humanities Teacher will:

• Teach effectively across a range of provision ensuring pupils achieve excellent outcomes.
• Maintain and further develop curriculum and subject specialism(s).
• To work with the Dean of to develop, implement and monitor effective schemes of work, course delivery, assessments, pupil surveys and pupil data in line with school policy.
• Creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and voicing concerns.
• Ensure that teaching and learning is evaluated, and action plans produced and implemented to promote best practice and ensure excellent pupil achievement.
• Remain up to date with national trends in education and implement developments in curriculum design and delivery to reflect these.
• Provide extra resources, support, and interventions for students who are struggling.
• Plan excursions, and field trips to expose students local and international history, local and international geography, and the impact of citizenship education in development.

Education and Experience

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in the social sciences/humanities such as History, Geography, Anthropology, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Mass Communication etc... required.
• Master’s degree a plus.
• Fluency in English required.
• At least 3 years’ experience teaching social sciences at the secondary school level.
• Willingness to continuously update skills and knowledge.
• Emotional resilience and a flexible approach accommodating changing priorities and working patterns.
