Mfah-Mfah Academy is a trailblazing experiment based on a simple and irrefutable premise: every child has innate talents and abilities. Consistent with this is the idea that enviable curricular experiences can be engineered to enable these children explore, innovate, think critically and perfect their proficiency in problem solving. All of these are built around the curricular philosophy of constructivism and project-based learning.
With a vision to “develop talents and educate morally upright global citizens,” Mfah-Mfah Academy’s curriculum ensures experiences that make for holistic education in character and sustainable global competitiveness. As a foundation in the development of a sound mind, the students construct their experiences with the relevant guidance in the core Sciences, Languages, Humanities and Social Sciences and Information Technology.
In our Arts corner, the students are exposed to carving, drama, dance, drawing, painting, music, pottery, sculpting, and poetry among others. In view of their need for Science and Technology, the students engage in Experimentation and Laboratory work, Coding, Robotics, Virtual Reality, AI, and Design. In the talents corner, the students have the chance to identify and develop competences in many areas including:
Carpentry and Woodworking; Culinary Arts; Journalism; Debate; Musical instruments; Fashion design; Photography; Production; and Agribusiness (especially Animal Husbandry). In a bid to empower these curricular activities with even more hands-on experiences, field trips are very carefully planned and executed; thus, deepening the classroom work with relevant real life experiences from accomplished professionals and companies. This builds their interest and commitment to lifelong learning, as well as the creative confidence to sustain that commitment.
Consistent with the very meaning of “Mfah-Mfah” – “brother-brother” or “sister-sister” – the Mfah-Mfah community offers a palpable sense of communion, compassion, mutual respect, integrity, responsibility, service and the warmth of being at home. Beyond the enviable infrastructural enrichment of our learning environment, this atmosphere helps the students (as well as the other community members: teachers, parents, administration and auxiliary staff) to develop constructive responses to both people and situations; and this begins their initiation into meaningful conflict resolution in a world with an unsettling propensity for conflict.
This atmosphere inspires, supports and challenges both the Mfah-Mfah community and visitors to become the best they can be first as human beings and then in the various roles they play. Evidently, Mfah-Mfah Academy is more than a school. It is a home for students and an opportunity for parents to invest in their children’s future. We nurture students and prepare them for careers and life after school within a perpetually broadening global community.
